The Resort – Les Deux Alpes
Les Deux Alpes is one of the oldest, liveliest and best equipped French ski resorts – friendly and lively it has an abundance of après ski and great facilities. The village occupies a high, wide, sunny valley with excellent skiing on both sides, but the runs you see from the village are only half the picture - higher up there are miles of easy runs in great snow; with a huge area of over 200km of piste, an impressive snow record and an above average amount of sunshine, this area caters for most levels of skier and snowboarder; if fact all you snowboarders have your own snowpark with boarder cross and a half-pipe!

Spice UK ski trips are based on a group accompanied by a Co-ordinator (who represents Spice UK), though there is often a Representative of the Tour Operator in resort.  The role of the Co-ordinator is that of Group Leader, acting as a social focaliser, helping the group get to know each other and enjoy the holiday as much as possible.  They are an integral part of the group without being intrusive and will try to assist groups of similar abilities to meet each other on the mountain for group lunches for you to attend if you wish. We find that on Spice UK ski trips comparable ski abilities tend to join together for free skiing time.

Ski Hosts

Each Chalethotel has a team of ski hosts, whose role is to help you to capitalise on the skiing opportunities in the resort. After welcoming you at the airport and making sure you board the right bus, they'll brief you on current resort conditions and answer any queries you might have.  In the resort, the ski hosts are responsible for arranging groups of guests to ski together. After breakfast, skiers who want to join a group assemble in the hotel foyer, where the ski hosts will split them into groups of different abilities. Typically, there will be three groups - leisurely intermediate, intermediate and advanced. Armed with up-to-date weather information, the ski hosts will plan routes for their groups and agree to meet the other groups at a particular mountain restaurant for lunch. After lunch, you can stay with the group for the afternoon, change to another group or spend the afternoon skiing with friends.  The ski hosts are knowledgeable and excellent skiers who know the resort well. They will suggest routes and ensure that the group stays safely together. They help to avoid the queues and bottlenecks and also where the best snow is. They are not instructors or accredited mountain guides. Ski hosting is always very popular on Spice trips and demand is high therefore please note that as there are a limited number of hosts in resort it may not be possible for every member to be able to make use of this service everyday.
Important note from Mark Warner: Our intention is to operate a full ski hosting service in all our resorts. However, the interpretation and enforcement of current legislation in these countries regarding ski hosting on piste remains unclear. We therefore cannot guarantee the service, which may have to be suspended in the event of action by the authorities.
