One of the most stylish ski resorts in the world!

The number one designer ski destination, this Three Valleys resort retains its premier position as the most stylish place to ski in France. With access to over 600km of perfect pistes shared with the Meribel and Val Thorens valleys, Courchevel 1850 is ideal for skiers of all standards. This ski resort has it all, and our Chalethotel Dahu puts you right in the heart of it.

Courchevel, stylish and chic, the Chalethotel Dahu puts you in the middle of it all. Metres from the lift station and right on top of the shops, bars and restaurants, the Dahu is extremely inviting with its large open plan lounge bar brimming with comfortable sofas. The ski area is fantastic for all levels of skier or snowboarder with over 600kms of piste at a skiing altitude of 1250-3200m.

After skiing out on the easy, perfectly groomed pistes that run through the centre of the resort, leisurely skiers can potter across to 1650 and enjoy lunch in style and sunshine. Stronger and more adventurous skiers may head for the infamous couloirs at the top of the Saulire cable car or the powder fields of Mont Vallon. In bad weather, there's sheltered skiing in the forest above La Tania and Le Praz. Many will want to try the end to end tour to the Maurenne valley (beyond Val Thorens) and back, which, with the new efficient lift system, is perfectly possible in a day without rushing.

Bars, restaurants and nightclubs for every pocket mean that nobody ever gets bored in Courchevel. Some are inevitably expensive and others surprisingly good value, but all have a fantastic reputation and atmosphere.

True, the skiing is fantastic, but there are plenty of other activities on offer too. Ice skating, bowling, squash, snow-shoeing, tobogganing, parascending… to name just a few.

Ski Hosting
The Mark Warner ski hosts know the resort inside out and will help find the best conditions and shortest lift queues. Hosting is available on 5 days during the week and is not suitable for beginners. The ski hosting facility is on a first come basis and is always very popular with Spice members so it may not be possible to accommodate everyone on everyday.

Spice UK Skiing Ability Scale
To help members with their selection of resort, with the assistance of one of our long standing members we have created the following Ski Ability Scale.
Level 1~3 – While the resort has ski schools and will easily accommodated non-skiers Courchevel is not really a suitable resort for those new to skiing.
1) First time skier, totally new to the sport (Beginner)
2) Second week skier OR has had lessons at snow dome and/or dry ski slopes (Beginner Plus)
3) skied a few weeks and happy on green and blue runs (Lower Intermediate)Level 4~10 – Courchevel has plenty of red runs and is suitable for the more confident skier.
4) Skiing parallel on blues and starting to tackle reds (Intermediate)
5) Okay on reds and starting to tackle blacks (Upper Intermediate)
6) Can get down blacks, but struggles on bumps (Lower Advanced)
7) Happy on most groomed blacks and easy bumps, but finds steep bumps and off piste tricky (Advanced)
8) Can ski all bar steepest bumps and ski off poste with style except with deep powder and in poor snow conditions (Upper Advanced)
9) No problems: can ski everywhere in all manner of snow conditions (Expert)
10) Professional skier, instructor, freerider etc
Snowboarders – Wide pistes and extensive off-piste terrain make Courchevel a good resort for snowboarders of all levels. There is a snowpark in Val Thorens but this is some way off, and for those of a speedier disposition the vast terrain of the Three Valleys to explore.
