Vulcan Bomber XM655 Group Tour
Overview
Its been 5 years since we last visited this special aircraft and talked to its amazing restoration volunteers.
Avro Vulcan XM655 was one of the last v-bombers produced for the RAF, and part of the UK's nuclear deterrent force throughout the 60s & 70s. XM655 is one of the few Vulcans remaining in ground running condition and The 655 Maintenance and Preservation Society aim to keep it running for as long possible.
Today we join up with the restoration group which is run entirely by volunteers. There will be a short talk about the work of the team on arrival before we split into groups of 4 to spend some time in the cockpit. A video will also be shown about the aircraft and there will be an opportunity to ask questions to some of the dedicated volunteers.
Our group tour will last around 2 and a half hours and the itinerary for our visit will look like this:
Chairman's Welcome - Followed by;
• Systems Demo. Power is applied to Avro Vulcan B.2 XM655 and various systems operated.
